Greetings from Ambassador Masaharu Kohno
to the webpage of the Embassy of Japan to the Republic of Albania. I
presented a letter of credence to President Topi on 28 September 2011.
During the recent years Japan and Albania have maintained good bilateral
relations, and I expect that the rapprochement will continue to develop
further in the future. This year the government of Japan for the first
time held ‘Japanese Cultural Week in Albania’ highlighted by a concert and
movie shows in February and in May provided hospitals in 14 cities in
Albania with emergency medical equipments. In November the Vice Prime
Minister/Foreign Minister Haxinasto visited Japan for Japan-Albania
foreign ministers’ meeting and saw recovery of Japan after the earthquake
the Great East Japan earthquake and tsunami on 11 March 2011, the people
of Japan received encouragements and support for the victims of the
disaster from Albania. I hearby as a representative of Japan express deep
respect and gratitude to the government and the people of Albania.
Albania is catching more attention as an attractive destination for
Japanese tourists, and in some parts of the country Japanese tourists are
often seen. Popularity of Albania as a travel destination for the Japanese
is thought to increase more in the future. As Ambassador I claw my way not
only to strengthen the bilateral relations but also to further exchange
between the two nations and finally would like to express gratitude for
understanding and coperation to the people of Albania.
