Ceremony in Albania to Commemorate One Year After the Great East Japan Earthquake

 

 

     On the evening of March 3, the Embassy, along with Japan's Honorary Consul General in Albania, held at the National Art Academy in Tirana a ceremony to commemorate one year after the Great East Japan Earthquake. Mr. Sali Berisha, Prime Minister, Ms. Jozefina Topari, Speaker of the Parliament, and Mr. Lulzim Basha, Mayor of Tirana attended with approximately 170 people from Albania government, business and cultural circles of Albania as well as foreign delegations in Albania. In his opening speech of the ceremony, Ambassador Kohno emphasised the recovery efforts of Japan and expressed the gratitude to Albania for its support to Japan after the disaster. Mr. Berisha highly appreciated the strong solidarity among the people of Japan and also expressed the gratitude to Japan's continuing development assistance to Albania.

 

      A Japanese music group "Wariki" had their concert, in which the audience enjoyed Japanese traditional music and performance to a full extent. After the concert the signing on grass-roots assistance to the project for primary school rehabilitation in the city of Lukova was held, and the reception followed.
