"Japanese Cultural Week" in Albania

 

     The Embassy of Japan in cooperation with the Government of Albania held "Japanese Culture Week in Albania" from 14th to 21st of  February 2011. Throughout that week the Embassy organised a concert Wariki at the State Opera House, a screening of Japanese films at the National Art Academy, a conference on Japanese diplomacy at State University of Tirana, a conference on Japan at the Preza primary school , and the broadcasting of programmes on Japan on various public and private TV stations. 

 

      It was the first event organised by the Japanese Government to present Japanese culture to the Albanian people, attracting the attention of many Albanian people and press companies. In particular, the Wariki concert held on February 18 was a big success with the presence of Prime Minister Berisha, President of the Parliament Topalli, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Haxhinasto, Minister for Innovation and Information and Communication Technologies Pollo, other high government officials, diplomats in Albania, and many other people interested in the Japanese culture. The audience of more than 750 people enjoyed the songs and sounds of traditional instruments and the dance of the group. Furthermore, film shows of "Water Boys" and "Summer Days with Coo" in collaboration with the Japan Foundation  was also very much enjoyed by the participants.
