The Embassy of Japan in Italy and the Permanent Mission of Japan to the International Organisations in Rome are recruiting a new local staff. Selection will be conducted as follows.
(The Permanent Mission of Japan to the International Organisations in Rome is administered concurrently by the Embassy of Japan in Italy.)
1. Start date: Early March 2026 (negotiable)
2. Place of work: Embassy of Japan in Italy(Via Quintino Sella, 60, 00187, Roma)
3. Job Description:
Assisting with matters related to agriculture, forestry, and fisheries, and international organisations in Rome (FAO, WFP, IFAD) (Secretarial duties for cases handled by the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Section of the Embassy of Japan in Italy and the International Organisations Section of the Permanent Mission of Japan to the International Organisations in Rome; drafting of formal letters and correspondence (including protocol duties);various research and information gathering, summarising international meetings and stakeholder consultations, English-Italian and Italian-English interpretation and translation, advance coordination and on-site support for organising or attending events and receiving dignitaries, and other miscellaneous tasks including assisting both sections in the above duties).
4. Contract type: Full-time employment under a fixed-term contract (1 year) commencing on the date of appointment. A one-month probationary period applies. The contract period may be subject to change (early termination or renewal).
5. Working Hours: Weekdays (excluding closed days) 9:30-17:30 (1-hour lunch break: 13:15-14:15)
6. Requirements:
(1) Required Academic Qualifications: University degree or equivalent
(2) Flexibility to work overtime, including Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays, as required by the Embassy.
(3) Practical experience essential (including PC-based tasks (such as Microsoft Office software, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.))
(4) Languages required:
Italian: Native or native-level proficiency
English: C1 level or above (CEFR standard)
(5) Must be able to commute to the workplace using their own means of transport.

Access to and Provision of Personal Data
The personal data of applicants may be shared only with specially authorised employees of the data controller.
Applicants' personal data shall not be provided to third parties in any manner.
The data controller shall not provide any personal data to recipients based outside the European Union and the European Economic Area.
In all cases, data processors to whom the Embassy delegates specific processing operations are carefully selected to ensure the protection of applicants' rights and personal data.
Retention period for personal data
The Institute will retain applicants' personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined in this privacy statement.
After the aforementioned purposes have been fulfilled, applicants' personal data will be automatically deleted or anonymised in a permanent and irreversible manner.
