Meeting between Ambassador ONO and FAO Director-General Qu：Presentation of Credentials (March 10, 2026)

Ambassador Ono met with Mr. Qu, Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and formally presented her credentials.
Headquartered in Rome, the FAO is a specialized agency of the United Nations in the field of food, agriculture, forestry, and fisheries. The FAO is engaged in formulating international rules in these areas, gathering, disseminating, analyzing, and preparing statistical data on global food and agriculture, and providing technical advice and cooperation to developing countries. Japan, as a major contributor, continues to support these activities.
During the meeting with Director-General Qu, he expressed expectation for Japan’s further contributions to global food security through its human resources, experience, and expertise in the fields of food, agriculture, forestry, and fisheries. Both sides agreed to further strengthen the cooperation between Japan and the FAO.
