Meeting Between Ambassador Ono and WFP Executive Director McCain (Presentation of Credentials) (March 30, 2026)

Ambassador Ono presented her credentials to the WFP (World Food Programme) Executive Director Cindy McCain.
 
Headquartered in Rome, the WFP is the world’s largest humanitarian aid agency, and its activities are becoming increasingly important amid the escalating humanitarian crisis in the world. As a major donor, Japan continues to support its activities. Executive Director McCain has worked to strengthen cooperation between the WFP and the Japanese government and private sectors, including by participating in TICAD 9 (the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development), which was hosted by Japan last year.
 
They agreed to continue enhancing JAPAN-WFP partnership through close communication.
